About Retro Ford

Established by Dave Colledge in 2001 from a love of classic Fords, Retroford has grown into a company that offers a huge range of components for your Classic Ford.

Dave qualified in engineering after a 4 year engineering apprenticeship and has worked as design engineer for several companies, but has always owned, modified and had a passion for early Fords.

Dave's interest in Ford's started early. Introduced to them by his Dad, John Colledge, who worked at Broadspeed in Birmingham during the 60's.

The idea of Retroford was spawned during the time Dave was restoring his now legendry 'Signal Red' Mk2 estate. When a friend offered Dave a Zetec he wasn't using for a kit car project, Dave took this opportunity to try something different.

Designing, fabricating and developing parts that weren't available, or of inferior quality to install the Zetec. Once completed, Dave was approached by many others wishing to do the same with their classic Fords.

Retroford prides itself in quality, making products that fit, look good and work. The majority of products are made in house at our Corby premises. Featuring machine shop, fabrication shop and a wide range of stock, ready for next day dispatch in most cases.

Over the years Retroford has built many cars, including several GP4 Escorts, Jason's 10 second Mk2 Zephyr Ute and Steve Dee's ST170 RS2000 track car.

Retroford has built up a close working relationship with Classic Ford Magazine. Hosting many technical articles and appearing in numerous features.

With the introduction of the Duratec engine, Retroford also developed all the components necessary to install a Duratec into classic Fords. Dave's Mk2 saloon, which he has owned for over 20 years, was used as the test bed. All Retroford products are tested both on the road and on track with this car. The saloon finished up with a 286 hp 2.3l Duractec, Mazda 6 speed box, and a host of other Retroford products.

Being located very close to Santa Pod raceway, Retroford dabbled in some drag racing, and eventually ended up building a Mk2 Estate drag race car. This lightweight car is fitted with a 304bhp, 235ft/lb torque Duratec, and also features a host of Retroford products along with many one off bits. Such as chromoly suspension, narrowed front wheels, carbon panels and motorbike brakes.

This is the fastest naturally aspirated 4 cylinder Escort in the world by nearly a second, with an ET of 10.42@127mph. Currently it is lurking in the workshop, waiting for someone to get close..but you may see it again sooner that you think.
